Delta Air Lines now flies between Porto and New York-JFK

Delta Air Lines inaugurated its new daily direct route between Porto and New York-JFK on Friday, May 22nd. The inauguration ceremony was held at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto, and was attended by several important figures from the national tourism industry.

The first Delta Air Lines flight from Porto to New York-JFK departed from the Invicta city on Friday, May 22nd, at 12:45 PM, and was operated by a Boeing 767-300 aircraft.

The ceremony at Porto Airport was attended by Hugo Espírito Santo, Secretary of State for Transport; Luís Pedro Martins, President of Porto and Northern Portugal Tourism, as well as representatives from Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM, the transatlantic partner of the American airline.

“Delta’s new nonstop route between Porto and New York-JFK is part of our growing network in Europe, offering our customers more ways to explore the U.S. and beyond – and in the opposite direction, Portugal and the region – with our award-winning service. Along with other new destinations such as Sardinia and Malta, this route reinforces our commitment to connecting the world and offering customers convenient access to the most sought-after destinations. Our flights to Porto complement our existing service between the U.S. and Lisbon,” said Matt Long, Managing Director for Europe and Africa at Delta Air Lines.

Thierry Ligonnière, CEO of ANA/Vinci Airports, highlighted that “the US market has more than doubled since 2019, and this new route to New York-JFK underscores the growing importance of the region and reinforces the airport’s global connectivity.”

Delta Air Lines’ new daily flights from Porto to New York-JFK complement the service the US airline already offers in Portugal, which includes daily flights between Lisbon and New York-JFK and Boston throughout the year.

Delta Air Lines flights between Porto and New York-JFK have four onboard classes, specifically Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main, and all have access to free onboard Wi-Fi using the SkyMiles loyalty program.

Delta Air Lines passengers have access to Delta’s hub at JFK International Airport in New York, where the airline operates more than 200 departures on peak days to over 100 destinations.
